Launching your first token

What actually happens when you launch, what it costs, and what you control afterwards.

What you need

A wallet with a small amount of the chain’s native coin for gas, usually only cents. Creating a launch on LaunchPal is free; you pay the network, not the platform.

A name and a ticker. Everything else, image, description, links, is optional and can make the difference between a launch people look at and one they scroll past.

The launch itself

One wallet signature. The contract deploys your token and its curve together in a single transaction, and it is tradable the moment that transaction confirms.

You can include an opening buy in the same transaction. This is how you keep a share of your own token, and because it happens inside the launch transaction, nobody can get in ahead of you.

What you control afterwards

Less than people expect, which is deliberate. You cannot mint more, change the price, pause trading or withdraw the curve. Those powers are exactly what makes a token unsafe to buy, so the contracts simply do not have them.

What you do control is your own allocation, you can sell it, or lock it so that buyers can see you cannot. Locking is visible on your token page and is one of the few credible signals available to you.

After it is live

Your token has its own page with a live chart, trade history and a share card built for social posts. Nothing else happens on its own: launches that go anywhere do so because someone told people about them.
